Lots of music videos came out in 2014, and in terms of creativity it was one of the best ever. But in a year filled with quality music videos, the following stood out in terms of style, choreography, and sets. Without further ado, here are the top three.
Beyonce – 7 11
Beyonce has a number of impressive music videos on her resume, and this is certainly one of the best. In 7 11, she highlights many of society’s cravings such as kale, GoPros and twerking among others. There are a lot of great things you can say about the video, but in the end it’s all about Beyonce being a perfectionist and quite good at it. If you think you’ve seen the best she has to offer, check this out.
Flying Lotus – Never Catch Me
Flying Lotus’ album You’re Dead is all about exploring death’s many aspects, both “blissful and silly” and it shows in this video about two kids lying dead in a church. Suddenly the children get up and with a smile, go off and take the hearse. The video is funny, sad and unique, allowing for a million different ways of interpretation as well. In other words, this is a cool video.
Cashmere Cat – Wedding Bells
Finally there’s Cashmere Cat’s Wedding Bells, which is so finely produced that it looks more like a movie trailer. The visuals, coupled with the dramatic music, make this an instant classic. The topic may seem cliché, but the way the video has been edited makes everything seem brand new.
